Christopher Costello

Owner & Founder

Christopher Costello, the founder, CEO, and namesake of the company is a San Francisco native. He attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory in the Sunset district, and upon graduating from SI, enrolled in the prestigious City College of San Francisco Hotel and Restaurant Program. After completing the program, Chris started a three-year chef apprenticeship at the Burlingame Country Club. From Burlingame, Chris earned a spot on the opening team of the Maui Prince Hotel in Hawaii. He lived there for a year and ascended the ranks at the Maui Prince.

Following his stint in Hawaii, Chris returned to the Bay Area and continued strengthening his craft. He was fortunate to work in many fine restaurants such as “Stars” with Chef Jeremiah Tower, “Lark Creek Inn” with Chef Bradley Ogden and the “Pacific Union Club” on Nob Hill. Further, Chris was hired on as the Chef for United Airlines, running their main commissary at SFO. Throughout all of Chris’ various positions, his friends and family would call on him to cater events. These small scale catered events allowed Chris’ creativity to shine. All of Chris’ experience up to that point sharpened his culinary skills, developed his eye for aesthetics, and refined his talent for event planning.

In 1990, Chris came to the realization that his passion and talents were geared for a life in catering. Needing a permanent location to build his business and with the help of his father David; Chris chose an empty lot adjacent to the San Francisco Wholesale Produce Terminal. On the lot, he built a 7,000 square foot custom catering kitchen and warehouse.

In addition to being the face of Christopher’s Fine Catering, Chris also serves as the company’s purchasing manager. His strong ties to the vendors at the nearby produce terminal afford him tremendous purchasing power, which translates to the high quality and sustainable products he provides for his chefs.

All together, Chris’ experience, talent, and care of clients have galvanized Christopher’s Fine Catering into the high quality, reputable business it is today.
